Hi, I’m Patrick. I started Ortman Financial Planning to give financial advice the way it should be given. There should be no sales, commissions, or focus on amassing wealth at the expense of living life. Financial planning is about using money in accordance with personal values. It’s about balancing the many conflicting goals and priorities that every individual and family has and having confidence in the plan to achieve those goals. Under that belief, I do holistic financial planning that isn’t limited to one silo of a client’s life. I measure my success on three things: improving financial outcomes, saving my clients time, and most importantly, reducing stress that can so often arise around financial topics.
Ortman Financial Planning has a particular focus on working with military families and veterans. There are so many unique elements to military life both in culture and the nuances of the pay, benefits, and career track and understanding those is critical in offering good financial advice.

Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, Certified Financial Planner™ and CFP® in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
On a personal note, I’m a dad of four boys and husband to an incredible Naval Officer wife. I grew up outside of Washington, DC and graduated cum laude with a degree in Finance from The Catholic University of America. I spent four years living in Canada and Mexico and speak Spanish and French. In the limited free time I have now, I enjoy reading, running, and watching my kids do whatever activities are capturing their interest.
